A Brief Interlude
Tuesday, September 19th, 2006So we got my middle son off to college…and then it was Labor Day Weekend and my youngest son turned 16 and was itching to get his driver’s license. I wasn’t feeling too well and the next thing I knew I was in the hospital with emergency bowel surgery for a strangulated small intestine. So, here it is September 19th and I’m home resting after a truly nightmare hospital experience. (I won’t bore you here, but Aaron has posted my rant about my weeklong experience in an edited version as a guest column on his blog with a link to the full version–click on “hoisted from comments”: Raw Thought: Life in the Hospital. I can’t drive yet but the Secretary of State’s Office seems to have deemed Ben a worthy driver in my absence so he’s keeping my car busy. I seem to have all this forced relaxation time but have just this week begun to recover enough focus and concentration to do anything more than stare at walls or the television. I finally read the newspapers, caught up with the emails, and today, for the first time, started to knit. I’m tired, my shoulders ache, but it felt good…and none too soon, as the weather is turning colder and this is my autumn jacket I’m supposed to be knitting!
So please bear with me and I hope to be back up to speed sometime soon. I know there’s a lot to catch up on and hope I’ll remember all I wanted to blog about (but, remembering previous bouts with anesthesia and narcotics, doubt it–I barely remember Stitches Midwest, let alone what I did there! I was going to take photos, wasn’t I?). More soon, I promise.
